A woman I know had a double mast and reconstruction last Thursday. She came through with flying colors. Go J! Her recovery sounds like it's going very well. I feel like a wimp but as I am reminded every day, people's bodies handle stress differently. Hubby is smart. =D
The Girls are healing well. The doc is pleased, but me...I don't know. I'm not sure I'm going to get the one big thing I asked for. What's that you might be asking? My big ones back. Same size they were before. I think that could be the one thing I'd have trouble getting through emotionally. I've said it before and I'll say it again - even after nursing 2 kids I LOVED my girls. God gave them to me and I loved them.
Not back at work just yet. Almost finished with my 'treatments.' When that's done, I get some time to recover then off to work I go. It's not sounding like a bad idea. There are only so many books, TV shows, and napping hours a person can stand. I'm saturated. My brain is mush. Did I mention the 6# I've packed on? The fridge is a tool of Mr. Stinky Pants (that's what my kids call him). How am I going to get that off before going back to work? Maybe not eating...not too bad an idea.
Still not driving either. I was cleared but damn it hurts and I pay for it the next day. Amazing how many muscles we use that we have no idea even exist. *Sigh*
My son shows his true colors every day. He's always ready to help me pick up something off the floor so I don't have to bend over. He's gentle when hugging me so I don't hurt. As much as I'm proud he's so kind, loving, and gentle I hate that he feels he has to be extra careful. Hope he doesn't remember this as the time Mommy couldn't take care of him. I'm not sure what Abi thinks of any of this. She gets that I am the one that will control the snuggle. I hope as she gets older she understands what I did and why.
Hubby is hanging in there. He's a great nurse. I asked him how he manages to do the stuff he's done for me - his one word answer - detachment.
I love you, Husband! You are the one constant in my life, my rock, my tether to the ground, my lifeline.
I love you, our children! Your tenderness and unconditional love amaze me every day.
My friends, my family - I love you. Your support has been uplifting, appreciated, unexpected, and just what the doctor ordered.
